FAQs

Where are you located?

We are located at 1441 W Northern Lights BLVD ste A in the Northern Lights Village Shopping Plaza. The strip mall can be found between Spenard and Minnesota. The parking lot is in the back of the building. Once you've parked, just take the sidewalk up along the building and you'll find us!

I just cleaned out my closet, now what do I do?

You’ve taken the first and hardest step! Now all you have to do is neatly fold your clothing into two standard shopping-sized bags and bring them to us. We will sort through your items overnight and decide what we are able to consign. We will steam everything that we can consign, get it priced, and out on the floor.

Do I need an appointment?

No appointment is necessary. Just leave your items with us anytime (Tuesday - Sunday) that we are open and we will take care of the rest! We do ask that you try and avoid dropping off items 30 minutes before closing.

Is there a limit as to how many items I can drop off?

We ask that each time you drop off, you do not bring in more than two standard shopping-sized bags of clothing. We also prefer that items are neatly folded and NOT on hangers.

Why should I consign with The Clothesline?

There are a few consignment shops in town and we do encourage you to stop into each shop to see which one fits you best. However, with the largest square footage and widest range of sizes we think we have a superb variety. Our clients are our priority and we want to make consigning fun and easy for everyone!

I brought some items in but never heard anything?

Due to the volume of consignors we have, we are unfortunately unable to call our consignors. You are more than welcome to call us anytime and we are happy to answer any of your questions.

Can I tell you how much money I want for my item?

We take a lot of time to properly price your items. We try and find the perfect amount to ensure that you are getting adequate money for your item but also making sure your item actually sells.

Will you buy my items outright?

We do not buy anything outright. Everything is on consignment which means you get half of what the item sells for once it sells.

I dropped off a ton of really nice stuff but you didn't take anything. Why is that?

There are a lot of factors we take into consideration when sorting your items. We are looking for items purchased within the past 2-4 years, in like-new condition, and quality brands like Nordstrom, Anthropologie, Free People, Eileen Fisher, and Patagonia. We have a list of brands we love here.

What happens to the items you cannot consign?

Anything we cannot consign will either get donated or you have the following three business days to return for your unconsigned items. You will specify which option you prefer every time you drop off items.

Are there things you don’t take?
We do not take underwear, regular bras, and watches. We can take sports bras and swimwear new with tags. We do not accept men's clothing.

What if I forget to pick up my items?
Items that are not picked up in the timeline of three business days will be donated. You must call in advance to pick up expiring items (from their 90 day consignment period), then pick up within 2 weeks of your request to pull, or they will become property of The Clothesline Consignment.

Where do you donate unconsigned or expired items?

We donate to Big Brothers Big Sisters, Covenant House Alaska, FashionPACT, Passage House and other local organizations.
